While some folks are committing to gym memberships and fad diets, Chris Hemsworth [aka ‘Thor’] is busy submerging himself in freezing water, rappelling from dizzying heights, free diving, fasting, navigating the outback on foot, and submitting to a host of other physical and mental challenges. All in the name of science.
Hemsworth stars in National Geographic’s new series ‘Limitless’, which endeavors to understand the limits of the human body and discover ways to combat aging in a documentary series created by Darren Aronofsky.
The K2B teams were tasked with creating a promo package that could connect the physiological and scientific aspects of the series; while Hemsworth challenged himself, scientists measured how his body reacted to each unique circumstance. The viewer emotionally engages with Hemsworth while being rewarded with fascinating data and insight.
With that in mind, we developed a concept called “Internal Clock” that threads the needle between physiology and science. Our objective was to create an aesthetic that keeps pace with the complexity of the series without being overly… complicated.
The resulting abstract visualizations communicate the essence of the series with multitudes of underlying meanings. For example:
This design package pushed us to our own limits (and the limits of our graphics cards) but we’re proud of the results!
